Giftbox

We all know that there will be at least one gift this year that you’re going to want to return, so what’s the best way to do it? And what can you get for the Holiday merchandise that you just really don’t want, need, or like?

Q: So what’s the best case scenario if you want to return something?

A: The best case scenario is to get cash back on your Holiday gift because what are the chances that you will want something from the same store? Most of the time, the only way to get cash back or in the form in which you purchase it is to have the original receipt with you. So, if you don’t have the courage to ask for the receipt from the person that gave you the gift, you probably won’t be able to get cash back. It must be the original receipt!

Q: What’s the easiest way to return my merchandise?

A: The easiest way is if the person who gave you the gift included a gift receipt in the bag or box for you. This way there is no hassle or hesitation that what you’re trying to return is indeed from the store that you’re returning it to. The only downside is even though you can hide the fact that you’re returning a gift, you will only be able to get store credit with a gift receipt.

Q: What if I don’t have a gift receipt and I don’t have the courage to ask the person who gave me the gift for the receipt?

A: That’s not a problem. As long as you know where the person who gave you the gift bought it from or go to a store that carries the exact same product. They will issue you a store credit for the merchandise as well as only give you the value price of what it’s selling for at the moment (which could be less than what was paid for it). Most likely they will ask for identification. Be aware though many stores limit you to the amount of times you can return merchandise without a receipt.

Most of the time it’s hard to return merchandise without the original receipt and expect to get cash back, but at least these are ways that can help you trade for something you like better rather than being stuck with something that just isn’t your cup of tea.

Happy Holidays Everyone!
