I never actually paid too much attention to the brand Miu Miu. It just sprang up all of a sudden. I just knew that it was quite expensive and wasn’t really sure why…so I thought, why don’t I just look it up?

I thought I heard Miu Miu had something to do with Prada…and now I know. Miu Miu is actually considered the younger line of Prada. The designer, Miuccia Prada using her name very creatively, wanted her Spring/Summer 2009 collection to demonstrate its inspiration and tribute European history. It’s her way of remembering the past. This can be seen in the layering of materials such as burlap and silk as well as historical notes found on the deco prints of the dresses.

Miu Miu concept is “old meets new”, something that is almost retro sci-fi. Miu Miu overall look is “old-world Italian luxury wrapped in forward thinking design”. Most of their handbags are very chic and are vibrant in colors. Those that are woven are meant to look voluminous.

Miu Miu’s new leading lady sporting her stuff is Katie Holmes which fits the style that they’re going for. She follows many of her previous “Miu Miu Muses” as they call it, such as Kim Basinger and Kirsten Dunst.

Even though I haven’t  found my love for or my favorite Miu Miu bag yet, knowing  more about the designer just makes me feel better about spending that $1300 when I do find the one.  I hope it does for you too.
