Why are evening bags so difficult to find? I’ve been on a hunt for a decent looking affordable evening bag that I can wear to parties or nightclubs or even to a nice dinner party, but I just can’t seem to find one that doesn’t look too cheap! Maybe I’m just too picky, because the only pretty ones I approve of are high-end brand names and in the $1000+ range, like the Judith Leiber ‘Traviata’ black satin envelope clutch pictured above. Here are several of the problems I have with the more affordable evening bags. One, the colors are too tacky-either too bright or just not right. If I want something in gold, I don’t need a bright yellowish gold shining bag that reminds me of the Goldfinger from Austin Powers. If I want a pink bag, I don’t want a neon blinding pink thing that will permanently damage my eyes. Two, I don’t mind sparkles, but if it must be sparkly, at least try to make it look elegant. One of my pet peeves is things that have fake crystals on them with a clear visual of the crystal holder. Fake crystals are not a problem with me, just the ugly plastic looking holder. I mean it would just look like a person wearing a metallic brace. Not that there is anything wrong with wearing a brace if needed; it’s just not as aesthetically pleasing. Also, if it’s going to have one of those single giant piece of fake crystal, please make sure it’s attached well, instead of using some cheap glue. The last thing I want is to buy a cute evening bag with its main attraction falling off. So if anyone has any suggestions on where I can find an affordable evening bag that actually looks good, please please please let me know!
