Let’s get one thing straight. One of my ultimate goals in life is to make enough money to be able to afford the ever so prestigious Hermes Birkin Bag. Multiples of them, actually, in different colors and skin. I envy Victoria Beckham to the max and despise those celebrities who have one, but doesn’t deserve one because they don’t wear it well (for example, Heidi Montag or rather Heidi Pratt now that she’s married). Heidi even has it in the most popular Blue Jean color!! She totally ruins everything. But anyway, I’ve been running into several pictures of Marc Jacobs carrying his black Birkin bag at several different venues. This was the first time I’ve seen a guy carry a Birkin bag, not to mention an Hermes bag. I got kind of confused, didn’t really know what to think, but then became okay with the idea of him carrying one just because he was Marc Jacobs. And if you must know, I love Marc Jacobs. So there we go. But guess what I saw today: a picture of Pharrell carrying a giant neon purple croc skin Birkin bag. Now I’m really lost for words. First, I’m mad that he’s not even a woman yet he has one before I do. Secondly, I’m not sure if this looks right. I always had the Birkin bag concept to be only fit for sophisticated women with elegance and style. Now, a pop star/rapper/designer slash everything else he is has managed to use his Birkin bag to make his entire appearance look quite….odd, I must say. Apparently he even got this custom made for him. Should men be allowed to carry Birkin bags?
