We all know how bad the economy is. What is even more unfortunate is when we can’t afford some nicer things in life, say the nicer, better quality high end brands. We can either sacrifice time to save money to splurge on one thing, or get the look for less. Take Marc Jacobs for example. The one bag that I keep seeing around these days is the Marc by Marc Jacobs ‘Classic Q-Hillier’ Hobo, pictured above. It is a simple, classy leather hobo with detachable straps. The shape is simply elegant with a slightly pleated front, and is accentuated with the Marc Jacobs label hardware. It has a hidden magnetic closure with an interior zipper pocket as well as a cell phone pocket. Its dimensions run 14 by 13 by 3 inches, while the handle drop is 5 inches and the shoulder strap drop length is 14 inches. It comes in several different colors including black, caramel, green, wave (looks like turquoise), steel (looks like charcoal), and chambray. It’s a great everyday bag. If you love this bag, you can get it at Nordstrom for $398. Now take a look at Coach’s Madison Leather Hippie below. This bag is shaped similarly, just a little bit more square-ish. Also, the handles aren’t round, but flat instead. This bag also comes with a detachable 37.5 inch strap. Made out of leather with pleats on the front and the hardware located at top, it really reminds me of the Hillier hobo. This bag has several interior pockets and top zip closure. With its dimensions of 10.75 by 11 by 3 inches, it’s slightly smaller than the Marc Jacobs bag, but the detachable straps make this bag available for crossbody versatility as well. You can get this bag at Macy’s for $298. You can save $100 buying this Coach bag and buy yourself something else!
