Prada Ombre Patent Leather Tote

The term “ombre” is used in reference to the new fading look which is applied to the body of a handbag. This fashion trend was first introduced by the brand name Designer, Prada. Prada first introduced these handbags with their patent leather collections and eventually went along and applied the color schema to a vast assortment of their different leather collections. Now that you are familiar with the originis of the “ombre” look, let’s dive in and talk more about the authentic and the fake “ombre” handbags. The “ombre” look is very difficult to produce on leather handbags. These leather handbags are airbrushed and coated with a lacquered gloss. Not only is it time consuming, the outcome is extremely costly. For example, RIONI, produces great Italian leather products for a reasonable price point–a RIONI “ombre” handbag retails in stores for about $500. Don’t get me wrong, I think that is a fair price; but indeed costly. However, there are always the imitations that are much cheaper. Today many companies try to imitate the “ombre” patent leather look. However, one will notice immediately that the imitations won’t endure much usage. These imitations are made with PU (a synthetic form of plastic and vinyl) and cheap hardware that will tarnish and break over time. One may also notice that these handbags are poorly stitched and sewn. All in all, one will get what one pays for… So there you have it, pay a little more and get a better quality “ombre” handbag or pay a little less and get a handbag that will break on you.
