Yves Saint Laurent Leather Cuffs

Cuff #2

Lately I’ve been seeing a variety of male accessories come into fashion and that brings an exorbitant amount of joy to my accessorized heart. Some of the decorative ornaments that have been gracing men’s wrists with masculine splendor are leather straps. Ever so pliable leather twisted, braded, lined, stitched, buckled, and more with galore! As nice as it sounds there are a few “fashion no-no’s” that should never have made the cut.

Exhibit A: The Yves Saint Laurent “Logo Cuff” in black leather. I suddenly have a mental image of Kevin Sorbo as Hercules partaking in his signature handshake (a firm grip to each other’s leather wrist guards). Wrist guards were considered armor and to be used like shields back then, but that doesn’t mean it is necessary today. A large slab of leather, the YSL logo to cover the entire wrist, and two buckled adjustable straps for $345.00. Am I sensing a dominatrix-like inspiration here? Mum’s the word. To top it all off, the Yves Saint Laurent website deems the logo “iconic” with the “air of sophistication.” I doubt that its sophistication can be worn to work.

Kobe’s Christmas shoes gives me Goosebumps..

Kobe Bryant recently debuted his Christmas edition shoes and wore them on Christmas day during the game like he does every year. The shoe comes with a giant detachable bootie and has black cheetah print all over it.

After taking a look at them I’m starting to think his inspiration came from a R.L Stine book. I read a lot of these books when I was younger and for those of you who don’t know who R.L Stine is, he wrote many books under the name “Goosebumps”. Just to give you an idea of how the majority of his book covers looked like here is a picture.

I believe that people are only buying them because they are Kobe Bryant shoes because I can’t think of another occasion where you could possibly where these shoes to. Being that Christmas has passed and only comes once a year. Maybe one could wear them on Halloween if dressed as the Hulk or Barney? Would you pay $200 for these shoes? Leave a comment below on what your opinions are on these shoes.

New Year’s Robber Steals Handbag and Wig

Robber Steals Handbag And Wig During New Years

January 2, 2012 around 1:00AM, a 22-year-old female student was walking home on the road opposite of West General Hospital in Edinburgh (UK). She was said to be returning home after the New Year’s celebration.

A passerby (male in his early twenties) greets the female student by saying: “Happy New Year”. He then quickly grabs for her hair and ends up pulling off her wig. He then grabs her silver purse and runs off into the city.

Fortunately, nobody was injured in this robbery and all that was missing was her mobile phone, keys, and wig.

The poor girl was very upset and dismayed that the New Year had to start off with such bad luck.

Dooney & Bourke Domed Buckle Satchel

Dooney & Bourke

Dooney & Bourke has not impressed me very much over the last few years. However, I can’t help but be impressed by their Florentine Domed Buckle Satchel. Dooney & Bourke put a modern twist on the typical domed silhouette by incorporating side buckles that work to add more shape in just the right places. The whipstitched handles also add just the right amount of flair and fun to the bag. The satchel runs large and it measures 15.5”W x 11.5”H x 6.5”D, making it the perfect weekend bag. The buckle satchel comes in three different colors: black, chestnut, and natural. You can find this bag at Nordstrom for $398.00.

Prada Made in China

Prada - Made in China

Last time I wrote a post about Louis Vuitton being made in other places other than France. Now, I have stumbled upon the fact that Prada has also been outsourcing their handbag manufacturing. I personally do not own too much Prada merchandise, but I admire their unique styles. Not being a huge fan of Prada, I was still shocked to hear that Prada made their handbags in China. I didn’t believe the rumors until I saw the pictures with my own eyes.

I guess a lot of manufactures are moving their production to China. I heard that the quality control in Asia is very strict; so many times the final products come out a lot nicer than the European factories. Does this make me feel better about paying so much for a handbag made in the Orient? Well, I have to say I need some more time to digest this fact. I would prefer my Prada handbag to be made in its hometown of Italy. However, I also do understand where Prada is coming from by outsourcing their products to Asian manufactures. If the final product comes out better, why not use them?

After all, many top designer handbag companies are also outsourcing their merchandise. If even the top of the top companies are doing this, then there must be some credible reason why.

Marc Jacobs for Christmas

MJ Duffle #3

Dear Mr. Claus,

In addition to the lovely Audi S5 on my Christmas wish list, I promise to be good for another week after Christmas if you could throw this roomy construction of a duffle bag (Marc New York “Vintage Leather Weekend Duffel Bag”) into your red velour bag. It has an attention – getter contrast stitching with opposing distressed leather. The distressed leather makes the bag nice and supple so that it looks worn in and comfortable. It has this lovely removable/adjustable shoulder strap that allows me to free up my hands to do more good deeds.

I’m sure Mrs. Claus would agree with me if she saw this handsome piece of work paired together with your gleaming black leather boots. You can even ask the elves to work their magic on this duffel to replace your own bag full of treats. If you need help locating this bag, it can be found at Nordstrom for only $345. I know you’re the busiest man in the world these upcoming days so thank you for your time.

Well Wishes,

Dan

A Black & White Christmas

Having a hard time shopping for men who are interested in style? Usually when I buy gifts for either my brother or dad, it is constantly something related to technology. So I quickly browsed through some sites that I thought might carry some good gifts for men and here’s what I came up with. Hopefully these ideas can guide you in the right direction because I know I can make use of all of these men accessories.

12-19-11_scarf

First off I found a Burberry scarf with a subtle charcoal Burberry plaid. This scarf runs for $325 and you can purchase it through their Burberry site.

12-19-11_tie

Next up is a light grey Gucci tie that is 100% silk and contains the GG pattern on it. The tie sells for $185 and can be purchased through the Gucci site.

A good accesorry that goes well with that tie are these Louis Vuitton cufflinks. You might need deep pockets to afford these because they are being sold for $510. They can be purchased striaght from the Louis Vuitton site.

Last but not least, every guy should own a pair of sun glasses and you cant go wrong with these Oliver Peoples in Black Chrome with the Midnight Express Polar. They are being sold on the Shades Broker site for $403 dollars but you might be able to find them else where if you just tried browsing around.

Background Info about Dooney & Bourke

These cases and purses were sold by Brooks Brothers, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Nordstrom.

Two years later, Dooney & Bourke became popular for their newly created All Weather Leather (AWL) bags. These bags included the duck logo which is now seen on many current Dooney & Bourke handbags today.
